Repair or replace?

We'll tell you the truth, even when it costs us the sale.

Not every struggling A/C needs replacement. If a repair gets you more good summers for less money, that's what we'll recommend — in writing. Replacement usually wins when:

  • The system is 12–15+ years old and the repair quote is more than a third of replacement cost.
  • It uses R-22 refrigerant — phased out, expensive, and getting harder to source every year.
  • Breakdowns are stacking up — two or more service calls in the same season is the system telling you something.
  • Your electric bill keeps climbing — older 8–10 SEER units can cost dramatically more to run than today's equipment.
  • Some rooms never get cool — often a sizing or ductwork problem a new, properly sized system can fix.

What your quote includes

One fixed price. Everything on paper.

No "starting at" games. Before any work begins you get a written, itemized quote — and the number you sign is the number you pay.

Proper sizing — not guesswork

We run a Manual J load calculation on your actual house: square footage, insulation, windows, ductwork. An oversized unit short-cycles and leaves rooms clammy; an undersized one never catches up. Sizing right is half the job.

Permits & code compliance

We pull the required NJ permits, schedule inspection, and install to current code — including electrical disconnects, refrigerant line standards, and condensate handling.

Full removal & cleanup

Old condenser, coil, and refrigerant recovered and disposed of legally. Floors protected, work area cleaned, system tested and walked through with you before we leave.

Factory-authorized equipment

We're a Rheem Pro Partner and certified to install all other major brands when they're the right fit for your home and budget. Manufacturer warranties registered for you — not left in the box.

Labor warranty in writing

Equipment warranties only matter if the install is right. Our workmanship is covered in writing, and we stand behind it with a real local office in Haledon — not a call center.

A/C replacement FAQ

How long does an A/C replacement take?

Most straightforward residential replacements — condenser and indoor coil — are completed in one working day. If ductwork modifications, electrical upgrades, or a full air handler swap are involved, plan on two days. You'll know the timeline before we start.

What does a new central A/C cost in NJ?

It depends on the size of your home, the efficiency level (SEER2 rating) you choose, and what your existing ductwork and electrical can support. That's exactly why we quote in writing after measuring your home — not over the phone with a number that doubles later. You'll see more than one option, itemized, with no obligation.

Do I need to replace the indoor unit too?

Usually yes. The outdoor condenser and indoor coil are a matched pair — mixing a new condenser with an old coil hurts efficiency and can void the manufacturer warranty. We'll show you the matched options and explain the trade-offs.

Do you handle the permits?

Yes. We pull the required municipal permits and coordinate the inspection. If a contractor tells you a permit "isn't necessary" for an A/C replacement in NJ, that's a red flag.

Is financing available?

Yes — financing with fast approval is available on qualifying installations. Ask when you call, or see our financing page for current options.
